David Boyer

With my interest in energy and the basic elements i have been looking into artists who make work in the same area

The artist David Boyer makes sculptures that directly harness the power of the wind. In a simmilar way to old technologies such as wind mills that used the wind his work, although contemporary, has a very old fashion feel about it. He ages new metal when he can not find the appropriate found metals.

I cant help but think that his work seems like it might be some old technology from an ancient civilisation unknown to modern man. Atlantis springs to mind.

This kind of work is probably rather important for eco artists concerned with issues that i am looking at as with the need for alternative energy solutions growing this kind of wind art might help people over come the opposition to wind farms as eye sores.

This kind of work really comes to life when it is in motion as the video shows. This work also reminds me of some art work in my film documenting the B-side Festival in Weymouth here http://vimeo.com/57955095

Some of the sculptures in the video remind me of DNA strands.
